Free video tools that run in your browser
flshy is one editor, not a pile of single-purpose converters. These pages walk through the three jobs people most often open it to do, start to finish, with the fiddly parts written down rather than skipped.

The order that works
These three jobs are not independent, and doing them in the wrong order means doing at least one of them twice.
- Cut the silences first. Silence removal reads the audio level and never a transcript, so there is nothing to gain by captioning ahead of it. The padding sliders are what hold a cut clear of the edge of a word.
- Caption once the clip is its final length. Caption cues live on their own track and are not shifted by a silence cut, so the captions you keep are the ones generated after the cutting is done.
- Reframe last. Auto reframe resizes the project canvas and writes keyframes onto the clip. Doing it before you have settled the edit means tracking footage you are about to throw away.
- Then export. One timeline can be exported at several ratios, so the vertical cut and the landscape cut come out of the same edit rather than two projects.
What flshy will not do
Worth knowing before you put an afternoon into a project, because none of it is a bug and none of it is going to surprise you later.
- It cannot recover a lost project. Editing is local, so projects live in your browser storage. Clearing that storage loses the work, and we have no copy to restore.
- It does not run on a phone or tablet. The editor needs a desktop or laptop browser and says so plainly on a small screen.
- There is no signed native build yet. You can add flshy to your macOS Dock from the browser today, and the real app is on the way.
- On-device captions use the bundled model, which returns timings per phrase rather than per word. A preset that animates word by word is added without that animation, and the editor says so when the transcript comes back. Word-by-word timing comes from cloud captions, which sends the clip’s audio to a speech-to-text service, and that trade is stated at the point you make it.
What every page here takes as given
- It is free. No paid tier, no trial timer, no credit card, no watermark and no export limit. A free account is needed to open the editor, and that is the only gate.
- Your footage stays on your device. Import, editing, preview and export all happen on your own machine, and the video files themselves are never uploaded. Three features do send something, and none of them until you ask: cloud captions and AI Highlights each send the clip’s audio to a speech-to-text service, and the Director chat sends a summary of your project, meaning its name, your track and clip layout and your media file names, to a hosted Claude model.
- You need a desktop or laptop browser. A Chromium browser such as Chrome or Edge is the best supported. flshy says so on a small screen rather than degrading quietly.
- Export is real. Hardware-accelerated H.264 up to 4K, rendered on your own hardware, with nothing stamped on the frame.
