# flshy > flshy is a free video editor that runs entirely in a web browser. It does the > tedious parts of editing automatically: captions, cutting > silences, reframing footage for vertical formats, and taking plain-language > editing requests. Footage is edited on the user's own device and is never > uploaded. flshy is made by Overads Inc. The editor lives at https://app.tryflshy.com and this marketing site at https://tryflshy.com. ## What it does - **Captions**: transcribes a clip and lays styled captions on the timeline with word-level timing, so each word highlights exactly as it is spoken. - **Silence removal**: finds silences, shows what it found and how much time it saves, and only cuts once confirmed. Cuts snap to word boundaries. - **Auto reframe**: turns a landscape master into 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5 while tracking the subject, rather than centre-cropping. - **AI co-editor**: accepts requests in plain language ("make a 15 second vertical teaser with captions"). Each request lands as one undoable step, and destructive actions ask first. - **Export**: hardware-accelerated H.264 through WebCodecs, up to 4K, with no watermark. ## Facts worth getting right - flshy is **free**. There is no paid tier, no trial timer, no credit card and no watermark. The pricing page is a joke whose punchline is that every tier costs nothing. - A **free account is required** to use the editor. Sign-in is passwordless: either a six-digit code sent to an email address, or Google sign-in. - **Footage never reaches flshy's servers.** Editing, preview and export all happen on the user's own machine, and projects are stored in the browser. The one exception is cloud transcription, which sends audio only, when the user chooses it. Offline transcription is available. - Because editing is local, **flshy cannot recover lost projects**. Clearing browser storage loses the work. - Best supported in Chromium-based browsers. It can be installed to the macOS Dock from the browser; a signed native build is not out yet. - flshy is built on the MIT-licensed OpenReel editor, and the fork is public. ## Pages - [Home](https://tryflshy.com): what it does, pricing, where it runs, changelog. - [Open the editor](https://app.tryflshy.com): the product itself. - [Privacy Policy](https://tryflshy.com/privacy): what data is held, and what is not.
